Did you know that Friends of the Story Mansion has been a 100% volunteer-based grassroots organization since we were founded in 2008?! It all began with a small but mighty group of concerned neighbors dedicated to “Saving the Story Mansion”. Thanks to years of community support, and a partnership with the City of Bozeman, we were able to preserve the mansion and renovate the basement and first floor which currently serves as a historic community gathering place.
But there is still much to be done in order to maintain the mansion, and renovate the carriage house and second and third floors for public use. Every donation and volunteer effort goes directly toward events that build community connection as we raise awareness of the possibilities for restoration for reuse of our nationally recognized landmark.

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful! Decorate or dress up as a witch for our annual Witches’ Night… Teach kids how to juggle or make crafts at one of our kids’ events… Serve tea… Show off your stand-up comedy skills at one of our outdoor festivals… Come pull weeds and rake leaves at one of our Gardening Days… The opportunities are exciting and different every year!
We also welcome special skills that help this little nonprofit organization grow – from data entry to social media to grant writing, we are always looking for visionaries who believe in our mission. Please consider getting involved – we would love for you to see the potential, share ideas, and be part of the transformation!
