Thursday, May 4th from 6:00 PM until Friday, May & 5th at 6:00 PM: GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY 2023

Please join our efforts to preserve, restore and reuse the Story Mansion by helping us reach our goal of $5,000. Your support allows us to host annual events at the mansion open to the public, such as Story Under the Stars, Witches Night, and our elegant Victorian Tea. We envision a fully restored mansion and carriage house for year-round events that build community connection as we raise awareness of the possibilities for restoration for reuse of our nationally recognized landmark.

April 7, 2023, at Noon: Historic Preservation in Bozeman

First Fridays at the Story Mansion are back! These discussions inform residents about historic landmark initiatives and current affairs.

The City of Bozeman’s Historic Preservation Officer, Sarah Rosenberg, will speak at this event and discuss the current status of preservation in Bozeman and what we’re doing to make preservation more equitable and inclusive.

Don your best vintage attire and join the Friends of the Story Mansion this Sunday, December 4th to bask in the grandeur of Bozeman’s treasured historic mansion at our annual Victorian Holiday Tea.

We’ll serve hot teas, homemade cookies, and savory treats on vintage china in the elegant first-floor living room, dining room, foyer, and library of the Story Mansion, located at 811 South Willson Avenue.

There will be two seatings, each for 50 people. Our first seating will be at 12:30 pm and the second seating is at 3:30 pm. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Make your reservation by calling Bozeman Parks & Recreation Department at 406-582-2290.

This event is brought to you by the Friends of the Story mansion and the City of Bozeman Parks & Recreation Department. We hope to see you there!

May 15, 2022: Kathryn Rogers Merlino presents on Adaptive Re-Use

Question: How can we encourage and implement more sustainable development in Bozeman with a culture and practice of adaptive reuse and historic preservation?

Answer: Please make time in your busy schedules and come to our special event this Sunday, May 15, 2022- at 3 pm at the Story Mansion!  We welcome Professor Kathryn Rogers Merlino on “Adaptive Reuse Sustainability and Preservation” in Bozeman.  Seattle is her “laboratory” — and ground zero like Bozeman for these issues — a boom town with a weak history of effective Historic Preservation and sustainability.

May 5 & 6, 2022: Give Big Gallatin Valley!

The Friends of the Story Mansion (FOSM) Board of Directors would like to thank you for your generous participation in Give Big Gallatin Valley 2022 — and especially for your commitment to helping us work with the City to present community events and maintain and repurpose the Mansion and Carriage House in the future. With your support, FOSM raised over $3400 during this year’s Give Big!

Friends of the Story Mansion is a volunteer group that works with the City of Bozeman to raise awareness and funding for the renovation and upkeep of the historical gem, the Story Mansion. We think the mansion is a diamond in the rough just waiting for the right tenant match that will really make this jewel shine! Until that special organization or community group is found, the Friends will continue to work to raise money for second and third-floor renovations. Give Big is just one way YOU can help!

Inspired by natural history but with a magical twist, on display throughout the Story Mansion will be cabinets filled with curious and engaging objects gathered by an imaginary family of collectors: mesmerizing mementos, fanciful renditions of scientific specimens and artifacts, and even encapsulated sounds and memories. Created by seven talented Montana artists, the cabinets will be interactive, designed to engage all the senses, and sure to fascinate and delight visitors of all ages. Presented in partnership with Bozeman Parks and Recreation, the exhibit will be free and open to the public from April 12th to May 8th.
